Has anyone ever toured around here? Was wondering about going there after Christmas
Thanks

Hi Tom
I did a 6 day tour starting from Molines-en-Queyras, east of Risoul in February, 2020. Some photos and maps here. It was my first time in the Queyras and I was pleasantly surprised by the skiing. Very quiet, even in a French half-term week. Lower altitude meant we could mix huts and small valley gites/hotels.
I've skied in the Queyras & the adjacent Haute Ubaye several times over a period of some 30 years, inlcuding with the Eagles (parties led by Steve Goulden) - there are accounts of those trips in the year book. I'd recomend the area and although its a long drive from the UK and not close to any airports there is a night train from Paris to Mont Dauphin (with connecting buses to all the villages during the ski season).
I have skied Risoul and Vars alot over the years, which are 2 of the largest resorts close to Molines-en-Queyras and have had good and bad experiences. One Xmas it rained at and we skied slush from
Last year the Queyras was almost devoid of snow. Some of the valley bases are quite low.
