HI
I am hoping to go to the Jotunheimen in Norway to do a hut to hut tour but I don't have the correct skis
I'm told ideally I need skis approx 180/186 length , metal edges, 82-60-70, with skins ideally. Also boots (leather?) size 44
If anybody has anything suitable they wish to sell or hire or can point me in the right direction? please let me know ASAP
Don't really want to buy new kit until I've had a go
thanks
John

What sort of bindings are you planning to use? I have successfully skied the Jotunheim on cheap alpine skis, cable telemark bindings and the most flexible plastic telemark boots. You may be able to track down leather boots, but they are an endangered species! You've got a fair chance of finding plastic boots on ebay, etc.

I would think something more modern would be preferable, but if you are determined to find leather boots, I have some telemark, 3-pin, duckbill, lace up, size 44 (I think), which I could get out, check and photograph for you

thanks Martin and Henry
Yes Henry interested in size 44 leather boots if you could venture into the attic! Seem you are both suggesting plastic boots may be the way forward
thanks

I don't know what the current kit is, but I would guess it would be warmer and dryer. However, here are my old leather boots. Actually size 10 1/2, so about 45+ I use them with thick socks 🧦 for trips over the golf course on rare years when we have some good snow.

Hi Henry
yes they seem to be the 'standard' ex military type boots being used
stuff for sale now does look bit more up to date !
PS - have you managed to use them in this cold period ?
