HELP! Please.

I'm trying to complete an online Application form and I've tried every conceivable format I can think of for the date at the bottom of the form and keep being rejected with the message "date must be a valid date".

HELP please. Serious replies only, I'm having a sense of humour bypass.

John - I haven't tried the ESC form but have had the same problem with other online forms which will only accept a date from the "calendar select " function at the top of the box.  It often works if you type in a plausible date but then click on the calendar button to confirm it.  Good luck!

John - just completed a form to check (sorry,  Dan).  I confirm that you must click on the arrow on the RHS of the box and then Set.  This worked fine for me.

Hi John,

Could you let me know what device/OS/browser you are using and I will try to reproduce the issue.

Thanks

This looks like the new style of date field that came with the recent website update. I have to use them quite often and, after an initial moan to the previous Internet Sec, I found them to be quite good to use. For today's date I would simply click on, or tab to, the first part of the field and then type 21102021. It adds the slashes and moves the cursor along for you. Or select from the calendar. I haven't had any problems with them. If it's really not working for you then there must be some odd issue at play. I use Chrome on  Windows 10.

I was on a Mac. Haven’t been back in to try any of the above options. Only use Mac at my desk and have found excuses not to be at desk for the rest of this week!

Thanks John, that's helpful.  If it's a Mac, I guess you are using the Safari browser.  How old is it?

Do try Mike and Andrew's suggestions if you are back at the desk next week.

Stuart,I'm back at my desk. I'm using Safari, I've tried again and still not working using suggestions above. Unlike many of the drop down fields on the form which work correctly, I've no calendar or drop down menu for the date. It may well be me and setting on computer? I'll email you rather than have public debate here!

John, not sure whether this will help, but I use a Mac and find that about 1% of websites don't work 100% with Safari. I have therefore also installed the Chrome browser, which seems to work perfectly with everything! Hope this helps!

Richard, Thanks I’ll give that a go. I think it maybe because I have an old version of OS on my Mac. The form works fine on my iPad.

My wife frequently encounters issues when using Safari on the iPad. Experts in the family advise her to switch to Chrome.
