Can anyone suggest  where I can obtain a copy of "Orrizonto Bianchi" mezzavilla, pellisier which appears to be the standard ski touring guide for the area, alas the book is now unavailable from the publishers. Any other suitable guidebook suggestions would be appreciated .Neil

I have browsed a copy of this on Rick Marchant's book shelf.  If you cant find a copy he might photocopy some bits of it for you.  if you do lay your hands on a copy get one for me as well and i will pay you.  There is a brilliant ski touring shop in aosta.  I cant remember the name off the top of my head but they might be worth ringing up.  They specialise in light weight and racing kit as well as other stuff.  Incidentally we ought to have a list on the website of useful shops.

Hi Neil,

Depending on how good your Italian (or use of babelfish, google translate etc) is Gulliver.it has loads of online topos - like an italian camptocamp if you have ever used this (thats worth a look as well as some Ialian stuff on there too + autotranslate for many topos).

This:

http://www.gulliver.it/index.php?modulo=itinerari&template=itinerario_cerca_tipo&tipo=sa

will take you to the ski touring page,  using the search button you can narrow it down to Aosta valley ('cerca per regione' & 'IT - Valle D'Aosta').

Might be of some use??

Try www.ecommerce.escursionista.it - their web site shows it available. If you are out there soon I bought my copy in Courmayeur (can't recall where exactly) and I've seen it for sale in Chamonix. Please note it's described as Vol 1 but there never was a Vol 2.
